2007 – “Artist’s carrier bags” project is revived

In 2007, after a lengthy break, paper carrier bags designed by Swiss artists go back on show twice a year. They are designed by established artists such as Pipilotti Rist, Olaf Breuning and Shirana Shahbazi as well as representatives of the younger generation such as Vittorio Brodmann, Nicolas Party and Raphael Hefti. The aim of the project is to give budding artists the opportunity to reach a wider audience while taking a playful approach to carrier bags as a medium. The bags are produced in batches of 100,000 and can be purchased in Migros branches within the city of Zurich for 30 centimes. However, those interested need to be quick off the mark as most are snapped up within the first week. In addition a signed, limited edition run of 80 bags is available from the museum shop for CHF 100.
