1957 – The Culture Percentage is enshrined in the articles of association

In 1957, 13 independent cooperatives make up the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (FMC), which coordinates the activities of the Migros community. The Culture Percentage is defined for the first time in a new agreement between the FMC and the affiliated cooperatives, and incorporated into the articles of association. The Culture Percentage consists of 1% of the FMC’s wholesale revenue and 0.5% of the cooperatives’ retail revenue, and is levied even when the retail trade is not performing well.
