Pré Vert du Signal de Bougy opens its doors

The winter break has ended and the Pré Vert du Signal de Bougy park, situated between Lausanne and Geneva, once again opened its doors to the public on 26 February. The park offers not only a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva and the Savoy Alps, but also a wide range of attractions: for example, lawn games, a mini-zoo, sports fields, a rope park, a golf course and minigolf. The park’s programme this year is particularly interesting as it is celebrating its 40th birthday.

Daniel Hope on tour in Switzerland

Migros Culture Percentage Classics presents its fifth tour of the renowned Orchestre National de Belgique, with its principal conductor Walter Weller, from 26 to 29 April in Zurich, St. Gallen, Basel and Geneva. The tour will also feature the internationally famous British violin virtuoso Daniel Hope, who has set himself the goal of bringing classical music to a wider audience regardless of age and education.

m4music festival with The Streets

The hip-hop artist Mike Skinner aka The Streets will give one of his last gigs in Zurich during the m4music festival before he retires into film-making. The 14th m4music pop music festival promoted by Migros Culture Percentage takes place in Zurich and Neuchâtel on March 24-26. Alongside international and national headliners like Ebony Bones! (UK) and Heidi Happy (CH), this year’s festival will feature over 40 other acts. In addition, the best new Swiss musicians will be discovered and promoted by the Demotape Clinic, while the associated Conference will see current topics from the music business explained and discussed. The festival starts in Neuchâtel. The Exil Club has now joined the Schiffbau and the Moods Club in Zurich on the list of venues. Advance tickets have just gone on general sale.

Better scripts for better feature film ideas.

Since this year, Migros Culture Percentage has been promoting new ideas for cinema feature films. The support starts deliberately at an early stage in order to help the script authors during the important creative phase. In addition to the financial contribution, the authors can stay free of charge for two weeks as an artist in residence at the L'arc in Romainmôtier and take part in a master class on scriptwriting there.

New GDI study: “European Food Trends Report”

The food market finds itself in a huge upheaval: more and more new products conflict with the growing distrust of the consumers, who are increasingly yearning for simplicity and authenticity. The second edition of the “European Food Trends Report” from the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute (GDI) describes and analyses this development and its consequences.

“Accept me as I am”

The pilot project “club minu” started its first therapy programme for overweight children 20 years ago. Since then, over 400 youngsters and their relations have learnt how to eat more healthily, that sport and movement are fun and that stress and conflicts are not solved by opening the fridge door.

“Wien 1900” lures the public to Riehen

The “Wien 1900” (Vienna 1900) exhibition opens our eyes to the culture of a time which still influences our everyday life today. It is open until 16 January 2011. Together with the Fondation Beyeler, Migros Basel offers, on the occasion of its 80th birthday, various exclusive offers within the framework of the exhibition: an art evening, children’s workshops, as well as art and cooking with the Migros Club School Basel.

“Fêtes Musicales” in Bulle

From 1 to 10 October, the music festival in Bulle offers a programme dedicated to classical French music. The largest room is taken over by the chamber music which will be performed by first-class musicians. Great orchestral works of the Impressionists are also on the programme, in particular the concerts for piano and cello by Ravel and Saint-Saëns with the Lausanne and Freibourg chamber orchestras.

Sir John Eliot Gardiner goes romantic on a tour of Switzerland

To start the season, Migros Culture Percentage Classics presents the famous English “Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique” with its head conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner. The audience experiences romantic works by Brahms and Schumann with the star violinist Thomas Zehetmair and the well-known Swiss cellist Christian Poltéra. The tour at the start of the season travels from 18 to 22 October to Lucerne, Geneva, Bern and Zurich.

“Une Idée, une Forme, un Être” exhibition

The new exhibition at the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art unites works from eight contemporary artists as well as works by Alina Szapocznikow (1926–1973) until 28 November 2010. The works are all connected closely with the human body. The use of materials is greatly reduced and this leads to a stress relationship between the reduced form and the static from the absent body.
